How to get to Avaldsnes

We are located at Avaldsnes, Karmøy, which is a 10 minutes drive from Haugesund.


Follow Rv 47 to Skudeneshavn ,  The road has a name change to E 134 a few km before the bridge. Pass the bridge.  When you come to the roundabout at Avaldsnes, turn left (third exit) and drive straigt (2nd exit) in the next roundabout to the St.Olavschurch at Avaldsnes.


Several daily departures with Norwegian and SAS between Haugesund and Oslo (55 min).

Widerøe have departures from Bergen (30 min) and Copenhagen (1 h, 25 min) to Haugesund airport.

The closest airport except Haugesund will then be Stavanger airport; Sola or Bergen airport; Flesland.


The coastal bus is operating on the route Bergen – Haugesund – Stavanger. (Bergen – Haugesund, 3 h, 15 min) / (Stavanger – Haugesund, 2 h). If you want to travel from the east of Norway the Haukeliekspressen is operating on the route Oslo – Åmot – Seljestad – Haugesund (9 hours). It is also possible to travel from Bergen, Stavanger and the region to Haugalandet with local bus routs. In the Bergen-area it is the bus companie; Skyss and in the Stavanger region it is the companie; Kolumbus.


From Bergen (3 h, 15 min) and Stavanger (2 h), follow E39.

From Oslo (7 h, 15 min), follow E134.

Scheduled bus from Haugesund

Bus no 8, 9 and 10 from Haugesund goes to Avaldsnes. There is a 10 minutes walk from the bus stop to the Historical Avaldsnes. Ask the bus driver for Avaldsnes. The bus stops on the mainroad E134. When you go off the bus you have to cross the road by an underground walkway.  Follow the road on your left. You will see 2 roundabouts. Follow the walkway all the way. Look for the landmark St. Olav church.
